When I say they are retarded I'm not saying that they have a cognitive disability. Please note, I do not want to offend anyone with a cognitive disability.

No, simply, the definition of the word "retard" is what they do and who they are.

Retard: To cause to move or proceed slowly; delay or impede. The intransitive verb is "To be delayed." Noun form is "A slowing down or hindering of progress; a delay."

From the Middle English 'retarden', from Old French retarder, from Latin 'tardus', meaning: slow.

Simply: They are a hindering of progress.
I am a progressive. They are retarded.

Eg. Whereas I am for the progression of civil rights, they are for it's retardation.

In all things, they are retardant.

No offense, but these are the meanings of words in our English language. These words mean these things because they're true.

I have new friends in politics who wonder why the url of this blog is dereau.blogspot

Ok, so, when I was doing Film and TV my stage name was my mom's maiden name, DeReau. I used to blog about politics as a night time hobby.

The BS leading up to the invasion of Iraq made me nuts, Howard Dean gave me hope, and I got really involved in a lot of local democratic political organizations.

I tried to keep my two lives separate for a while, but as more political causes, elections, and campaigns left less time for auditions or shows, DeReau sort of faded away.

Strong to very strong, fred. Historical parallels are hard because a lot of things have changed, but this is certainly an interesting take on things.

I still worry that the GOP will cement itself after taking some lumps in November. A quick and bloody primary scuffle followed by a unity juggernaut. On the other hand, the coalition is fraying, and the party has no soul, so maybe not.
